When looking around the Drill Hall I was intrigued by the different size of every performance space as well as to how light was used in each space. I was particularly interested in the smaller spaces, for example the small corridors just before entering the auditorium or stage. There was such a contrast in the way the artificial and natural light bounced off the bare brick walls to highlight some of the original structure of the Drill Hall. I couldn’t help notice in the small room towards the side of the stage there was a strong artificial light. I thought this created a slightly lonely or eerie feeling whereas in some areas the fire exit seemed to be one of the main sources as seen below.
