So far my main interests have been the knowledge that there were 17 layers of paint on top of the brick work in the main auditorium, however i cannot find any pictures of all the different stages of paint work, so i am going to ask if any workers at the drill hall themselves can give me any information and find out mayeb about the lives of the designers and painters. I like the idea of the use of layers. Whether its of the literal colour of paint or texture, or also layers of particular events in history and peoples lives, such as newspaper articles of events, cloths covoured in blood ie at the hospital, flyers of shows that are currently being perfromed… i could create a giant motage/ collage of the drill halls history in layers, whether this is physically on a canvas with materials, or through performance of these specific events, using the materials as a starting prop/point.
I am also interested in the use of bingo being held at the drill hall a twice a week along with dances and live music events, most noticbly The Rolling Stones in 1963 and The Beatles played there. I came up with the concept of numbers to do with bingo and then linked the idea to other events in the drill hall.
