Advance to Drill

Our task after our class on Friday (6th) was to develop our performance into a piece that could possibly inspire our final piece.
As a group we decided to take the positions our bodies made outside around the object at The Drill Hall, and turn them into exercises that would potentially be found within a Drill during the days when The Drill Hall was used to train soldiers.

For this, we took 5 pictures that we had taken during our class and assigned them to an exercise which we numbered 1 to 5.

We shouted at the class as if we were their superiors, ordering them to march up and down twice, and then stopping them in a confined area in order to make the tasks strenuous for them. We then showed them each move and told them which number it was assigned to and then we persisted the shout numbers at them as if they were orders.

If a person was excelling at the task we would pull them out of the exercises to reward them for their hard work. Until we were left with one member of the group who was given a task of 30 star jumps to do in front of the class, this was to insinuate the feeling of a soldier who had been called out in front of the troop and the embarrassment and failure they must of felt. It was clear the class member felt they were being pressured as they turned their back to us as we all watched him.
