Setting the scene

  1. A military outpost is a detachment of troops stationed at a distance from the main force or formation, usually at a station in a remote or sparsely populated location, positioned to stand guard against unauthorized intrusions and surprise attacks; and the station occupied by such troops, usually a small military base.

As my site specific performance is war themed, I want the architecture of the the building to link with military side of my piece. When I think of war and the the military the first thing I think about is heavy machinery and metal. Therefore I want the surroundings of my performance to  convey a feeling of coldness. The the sealing structure of the Drill hall auditorium shows this, as the metal arches not only  transport you back to when the building was built, but they also portray a true sense of Victorian architecture and culture.
