Liminal Spaces

1. Relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process.
2. Occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.
Liminal space is a central part to our piece in two different ways. First you have the literal liminal space of the staircase, being between two levels. Then we have the figurative of the soldiers being in a liminal space, caught between life and death, past and present. With the two in mind we thought it would create a nice image and memorial for the soldiers who once trained at the Drill Hall. We also thought it was a nice image to bring them home after being away for 100 years, and welcoming them back to the place they spent their time before going to war and never returning.
